Computer training for visually challenged women - The Hindu 23-11-2013

Caliber Training Centre for People with Disability will conduct a free computer training programme for visually challenged women on November 24.

According to Surya Nagappan, Managing Trustee of UDIS Forum, the training will be sponsored and conducted by Muthu Empower Trust. Each training module will be for a month with weekend classes.

Awareness

“The Trust has come forward to conduct this training on a continuous basis, in batches, for interested women. This is because there is increased awareness among industry and corporates about employing visually challenged women.

UDIS Forum and Caliber are approaching the HR departments of various companies and motivating them to employ visually challenged women who are well trained,” Mr. Surya said.

The Trust was interested in conducting training and also employing visually challenged women, he added.

Caliber was inviting applications from interested women who are studying and working for the training. It will be inaugurated by M. Sinduja Anandhan, Managing Trustee of the Trust, in the presence of G. Balathandayutham, HR Manager, Bi Metal.

ஆறு மணி நேரத்தில் ஆங்கிலத் தட்டச்சு கற்றுக் கொண்டு அசத்திய பார்வைக்குறைபாடு உடைய மாணவி

மரியா பார்வைக்குறைபாடு உடைய கல்லூரி மாணவி. கோவையில் ஒரு தனியார் கல்லூரியில் முதலாமாண்டு தமிழ் இலக்கியம் பயின்று வருபவர். கோவை வெங்கிட்டாபுரம் பகுதியில் இயங்கி வரும் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளுக்கான யூடிஸ்-கேலிபர் கம்ப்யூட்டர் பயிற்சி மையத்தில் கம்ப்யுட்டர் கற்றுக் கொள்வதற்காக வந்து சேர்ந்தார்.  JAWS மென்பொருள் மூலமாக படிக்க ஆரம்பித்தார். மூன்றே வகுப்புகளில் மொத்தமாக வெறும் ஆறு மணி நேரத்தில் ஆங்கலத் தட்டச்சு முறையாக அனைத்து எழுத்துக்களையும் பயின்று, பிழையில்லாமல் தட்டச்சு செய்து அசத்தினார். நான் எத்தனையோ மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளுக்குப் பயிற்சி அளித்திருக்கிறேன். இவ்வளவு வேகமாகவும், பிழையில்லாமலும் ஆங்கிலத் தட்டச்சு செய்த பெண்ணாக மரியா மட்டுமே என் நினைவில் இருக்கிறார். பார்வையுடைய பலரும் தட்டச்சு செய்வதில் முறையான பயிற்சி இல்லாமல் தடுமாறிக் கொண்டிருப்பதை நான் பார்த்திருக்கிறேன். நூறு சதவிகிதம் பார்வை இழப்பு இருந்தாலும் மன உறுதியுடன் தட்டச்சு செய்யும் மரியாவே உண்மையான மாற்றுத்திறனாளி. நாளைய உலகையே மாற்றும் திறன் உடையவர். மரியாவை வாழ்த்துவோம்.

Know your rights

Differently-abled members from more than 10 districts of the State learnt that there were legal provisions to ensure that not only those with disability led an inclusive life, but also those without disability ensured them an inclusive-friendly atmosphere to live in.

The venue was a three-day workshop on ‘Disability and Inclusive Development’ that concluded here on Thursday.

The workshop, jointly organised by UDIS Forum and CBM, Bangalore, saw resource persons from the latter brief the participants over three days on the rights of the people with disabilities, the recourse they have in case of violation of such rights, and other concessions.

Managing trustee of UDIS Forum, Surya Nagappan pointed out that this was kind of a train-the-trainer programme through which the participants who gained knowledge about the legal provisions would go back to their respective districts and spread the information to other organisations working for the differently abled.

“There are so much that the differently abled are not aware of. For example, people are aware that accessibility for the differently abled should be ensured in public places. But through this workshop we came to know that even private organisations have to ensure disability-friendly infrastructure,” Mr. Nagappan said.

Murali Padmanaban, inclusive development manager, CBM said that the workshop was to make the differently abled understand that mainstreaming those with disabilities went beyond rehabilitation like providing tricycles, walking stick and so on. This involved showing them affection, providing them education and employment, on par with those without disabilities, he adds.

Aldrin E, managing trustee of Feed Trust, Rameshwaram, who attended the workshop, said that he would organise a district level awareness programme for the NGOs involved with the differently abled in the whole of Ramanathapuram so that the information he gained in the workshop would reach 16,000 differently abled.

The participants were also given material pertaining to legal provisions on disability for reference and sharing with other like-minded workers.

கோவை, வெங்கிட்டாபுரத்திலுள்ள குத்தூசி குருசாமி படிப்பகத்தில் 03.11.2013 ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமையன்று காலை 10 மணி முதல் மதியம் 2மணி வரை பார்வை குறைபாடுடைய பெண்களுக்கு இலவசமாக கணிணிப் பயிற்சியளிக்கப்பட்டது.

  ஜாஸ் (JAWS)என்ற கேட்பு மென்பொருள் மூலம் கோவை அவினாசிலிங்கம் பல்கலைக் கழகத்தில் தமிழ் இளங்கலை படிப்பு படித்துவரும் பார்வையற்ற மாணவியான ந.மரியா என்ற மாணவிக்கும், பார்வை குறைபாடுடைய தனம் என்ற பெண்ணுக்கும், மாற்றுத்திரணாளி இர.மாசாணதுரை ஆகியோருக்கு யூடிஸ் போரம் அமைப்பின் தலைவர் சூரிய.நாகப்பன் பயிற்சியளித்தார்.

கோவை ‍ேமட்டுப்பாளையம் சாலையில் அமைந்துள்ள யூடிஸ் ஃபோரம் அமைப்பு மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளுக்கு பயிற்சி மற்றும் வேலை வாய்ப்பை ஏற்படுத்தித் தரும் அமைப்பாக கடந்த ஏழு ஆண்டாகப் பணியாற்றி வருகிறது. இவ்வமைப்பு மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளும், மனவளர்ச்சி குன்றிய குழந்தைகளின் பெற்றோர் சங்கமும் இணைந்து மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளுக்காக பணியாற்றி வருகிறது.  இவ் அமைப்பில் மாற்றுத்திறனாளி மகளிருக்கு ஒருநாள் கைவினைப் பொருட்கள் தயாரிக்கும் பயிற்சி வழங்கப்பட்டது. மாற்றுத்திறன் மகளிர் வீட்டிலிருந்தே தங்கள் ஓய்வு நேரத்தில் மிக எளிமையாக செய்யும் கைவினைப் பொருட்களைத் தயாரிக்கப் பயிற்சி வழங்கப்பட்டது. இதில் பேஷன் நகைகளைத் தயாரிக்கவும், தெர்மோகோலில் பல்வேறு வடிவங்களைத் தயாரிக்கவும், உபயோகமில்லாத சிடியைக் கொண்டு கலைப் பொருட்களைத் தயாரித்தல் போன்ற கைவினைப் பொருட்களைத் தயாரிக்க பயிற்சி வழங்கப்பட்டது. மாற்றுத்திறன் மகளிருக்கு மாற்றுத்திறன் மகளிரான மீனா, பாலகிருத்திகா பயிற்சிகளை வழங்கினர். திரு.கதிரவன் சிறப்பு பயிற்சியாளராகக் கலந்து கொண்டு பயிற்சிகள் வழங்கினார். 25 மாற்றுத்திறனாளி மகளிர் இப்பயிற்சியில் கலந்து கொண்டு பயனடைந்தனர். யூடிஸ் ஃபோரம் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் அமைப்பின் தலைவர் சூர்ய.நாகப்பன் நிகழ்ச்சியைத் துவக்கி வைத்தார். "பயிற்சியளிப்பதோடு ஒதுங்கிவிடாமல் மாற்றுத்திறன் மகளிர் உற்பத்தி செய்த பொருட்களை சந்தைப் படுத்த யூடிஸ் ஃபோரம் பல்வேறு முயற்சிகளை மேற்கொள்ளும். பார்வையற்றோர் சங்கம், செவித்திறன் குறைபாடு உடையோர் சங்கம், பெற்றோர் சங்கம் ஆகியவற்றை இணைத்து மாற்றுத்திறன் மகளிர் உற்பத்தி செய்த பொருட்களைச் சந்தைப்படுத்த தேவையான முய்ற்சிகளைச் செய்யும்" என்று தனது உரையில் கூறினார்.  நிகழ்ச்சியில் பல மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் கலந்து கொண்டு பயிற்சி பெற்ற மாற்றுத்திறனாளி மகளிருக்கு வாழ்த்து தெரிவித்தனர்.

Free training for differently abled

The UDIS Forum will organise a free training for differently abled in making handicraft items here on October 27.

According to a release from the forum, the classes will focus on those who have motor disability and those with hearing impairment.

Material for making handicraft items too will be provided free of cost, the release added.
