21st June 2009 Advocacy Meeting for Visually Challenged People.

Caliber & Arvic jointly arranged one day Advocacy meeting for Visually Challenged People at Dr.P.G.V. Charitable Trust - Tailoring & Empowerment Centre for persons with Disabilities, G.N.Mills, Coimbatore -29.

Forty five visually challenged people and ten locomotive disabled persons and eight voluntary college students participated in that advocacy meeting. Mr.Srinivasan retired professor and also president for Rights for visually challenged spoke about the problem in opening account in banks and Reserve Bank Guide line to open an account for visually challenged. Mr.Surya, President of Caliber spoke about the self employment like news paper carry bag. How to produce and marketing the news paper carry bag. Mr.Sounderraj told about the thermal pressure, pressure points of the body, massage methods, types of massage like oil massage, powder massage. He explain “ How to learn and earn visually challenged people in that field?” Mr.Sekaran Executive Director UDIS Forum, told about the employment opportunity and self employment. He point out the new product for marketing. Mr. Balaji, social activist gave a set of note books to Saravana kumar a poor disabled boy studying in 9th standard at Asokapuram Govt.Boys Higher Secondary School. Lunar foot wear producers K.K.Savadi sponsored 35 pair of foot wear to visually challenged people. Caliber provides tea and lunch for all the participants.

மார்ச் 1 அன்று கலைஞர் தொலைக்காட்சியில் ஒன்றே சொல் நன்றே சொல் நிகழ்ச்சியில் மாற்றுத்திறன் உடைய மக்களின் சமூக, பொருளாதார, அரசியல் உரிமை தொடர்பான தங்களது செய்தி மிகப் பெரிய அளவில் ஒரு தாக்கத்தை தமிழகத்தில் ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது. இது ஒரு வரலாற்றுச் சிறப்பு மிக்க செய்தியாகும். அறிவுலக ஆசான் தந்தைப் பெரியார் அவர்களின் வழியில் பயணிக்கும் தாங்கள் தொடர்ந்து ஒடுக்கப்பட்டு வரும் மக்களின் சார்பாக தாங்கள் குரல் எழுப்பி வருகின்றீர்கள். அந்த வரிசையில் மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகள் குறித்துப் பேசியது மட்டற்ற மகிழ்ச்சியளிக்கிறது. வாய்ப்புக் கிடைக்கும் இடங்களில் எல்லாம் எங்களது உரிமைக் குரலை ஒலிக்கச் செய்வீர்கள் என்று நம்புகிறோம். தங்களை எங்கள் மாற்றுத் திறன் உடைய மக்களின் தூதராகவே பார்க்கின்றோம். தங்களின் பேராதரவிற்கும் அன்புக்கும் நன்றி. தமிழக முதல்வர் அவர்கள் மாற்றுத் திறன் உடைய மக்களின் உரிமைகளைப் ‍பெற்றுத் தருவோரும் என்று வாக்குறுதி அளித்து இருப்பது எங்களுக்கு ஒரு புதிய நம்பிக்கையை அளிக்கிறது. இந்திய அளவிலும் இந்தச் செய்தியானது ஒரு பெரிய தாக்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்தும் என்பதை நாங்கள் அறிவோம். எந்த ஒரு மாநில முதல்வரும் மாற்றுத் திறன் உடையவர்களின் உரிமைகளைப் பற்றி இதுவரைப் பேசியதில்லை என்பதையும் நாம் கவனத்தில் எடுத்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும. எனவே தமிழக முதல்வர் அவர்களை இந்திய நாட்டிற்கு ஒரு முன்னுதாரணமாக செயல்பட்டு வருகிறார் என்பதில் மிகுந்த பெருமிதம் கொள்கிறோம்.

This is main vision of The Caliber - Trust. We educated and socially committed graduates from physically challenged community, who understood the pain and problems of physically challenged and who wants to create the space for freedom, opportunity, respectful world and make others to understand the physically challenged people's problem and create awareness about the rights of physically challenged. With these aims we have already conducted base line survey in and around Coimbatore district. We have identified more than 1500 physically challenged person's. We have classified them sex/Age/Caste/ need based/ nature of disability wise.

We have also registered the CALIBER - Trust under Public Charitable Trust Act. As you know the challenges one has to face to create social service centre and especially for the physically challenged. We understand that you are pioneer of this field and we expect your great guidance and help to welfare and empowerment physically challenged who are considered to be a socially exclusive mass in our country.
